Pakistan allocates 2000 megawatts of power capacity for Bitcoin mining
ChainCatcher news, according to Jinshi reports, Pakistan has allocated 2,000 megawatts of installed power capacity in the first phase of a nationwide plan to support Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence data centers. The country is currently promoting the legalization of cryptocurrency and attracting foreign investment.The Pakistani Ministry of Finance stated in a statement that this plan, led by the Pakistan Cryptocurrency Committee, will also help monetize surplus energy and create high-tech jobs.The Ministry of Finance mentioned that coal-fired power projects currently operating at 15% capacity, such as Sahiwal, China Hub, and Port Qasim, are expected to be repurposed for this plan.
