The U.S. Treasury Department has sanctioned four Iranian cryptocurrency exchanges and several executives, accusing them of assisting in evading sanctions

The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced that it has added Iran's largest cryptocurrency exchange Nobitex, as well as three Iranian cryptocurrency exchanges Wallex, Bitpin, and Ramzinex, to its sanctions list, and imposed sanctions on Nobitex's chairman and co-founder Amir Hossein Rad, current CEO Seyed Ali Khoee, and several co-founders and executives. The U.S. Treasury accused Nobitex of processing over 50% of Iran's cryptocurrency inflows in 2025 and providing support for transactions related to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), ransomware organizations, and sanction evasion activities. It also assisted the Central Bank of Iran in obtaining hundreds of millions of dollars in stablecoin funding. U.S. officials stated that after U.S. military actions against Iran, Nobitex helped transfer and protect the assets of the Iranian regime. In addition, the Treasury stated that Iran's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange Wallex, as well as Bitpin and Ramzinex, were also found to have links to transactions related to the IRGC. Among them, Wallex received about 12% of Iran's cryptocurrency inflows in 2025, Bitpin accounted for about 10%, while Ramzinex, established in 2018, has processed over $2.45 billion in transactions. This action is part of the Trump administration's "Economic Fury" strategy to exert maximum pressure on Iran. The U.S. Treasury stated that it will continue to combat Iran's use of digital assets for terrorist financing and sanction evasion and reserves the right to impose secondary sanctions on foreign financial institutions and companies that assist Iran's illegal trade.

Multiple CFTC officials who questioned the regulation of the prediction market have been suspended and forced to resign

According to Cointelegraph, an investigative report released by The New York Times on Sunday revealed that several senior officials from the CFTC, who had raised regulatory concerns about Polymarket, Crypto.com, and Gemini affiliates, were subsequently suspended, subjected to internal investigations, and forced to resign. The three companies mentioned have been accused of having business ties to the Trump family. The report stated that then-CFTC acting chair Caroline Pham and her senior advisors intervened to assist the aforementioned companies in obtaining the necessary approvals. By the end of 2025, five officials who questioned or enforced cryptocurrency regulatory laws were placed on administrative leave and internal investigation, without being informed of the specific reasons. After leaving, Pham joined the cryptocurrency company MoonPay, which has a partnership with Polymarket, while her senior advisor Brigitte Weyls became the legal counsel for Gemini Titan—whose application was approved with her involvement. On the enforcement front, the CFTC has withdrawn at least five cryptocurrency investigations, with the number of enforcement actions plummeting from over 80 during the Biden administration to just two during Trump's term. In response, a White House spokesperson denied any conflict of interest, stating that "President Trump only acts in the best interest of the American public."

Wang Chun: Exploration should not be postponed to the next generation; participating in this flight is to give SpaceX a reason not to forget Mars

F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun talks about why he chose Mars instead of the Moon as the target for SpaceX's first interstellar manned mission. He believes that even without private investment, humanity will still reach the Moon, and likely very soon. As space competition intensifies, governments around the world will establish lunar bases. I am happy to watch all of this happen. On the other hand, I am still uncertain about the progress of Mars exploration within our lifetime, and I feel that something should be done about it. I hope that by purchasing a ticket for a mission to fly by Mars, SpaceX will have another reason not to forget about Mars. Because we really should not delay Mars exploration for the next generation.Yesterday, SpaceX announced that Wang Chun will participate in SpaceX's first interstellar manned mission as the mission commander, executing a flight lasting about two years: first exploring the outer space of the Earth-Moon system, then flying by Mars and returning to Earth. Before this interstellar mission, Wang Chun will participate in a commercial crewed lunar flyby with Dennis and Akiko Tito, with the planned flight being within 200 kilometers of the lunar surface. This is the first commercial crewed interstellar mission of Starship, and Wang Chun previously commanded the Fram2 polar orbit mission in 2025, gaining experience for this flight.

After the attack on KelpDAO, multiple protocols have abandoned LayerZero, with $4 billion in assets migrated to Chainlink CCIP

According to CoinDesk, after KelpDAO was attacked resulting in a loss of $292 million, the industry's scrutiny of the security of cross-chain infrastructure continues to heat up, with approximately $4 billion in assets having completed or currently migrating from LayerZero to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).The DeFi protocol Lombard is the latest project to join this migration trend. The protocol announced it would abandon LayerZero and migrate over $1 billion in Bitcoin-backed assets to Chainlink CCIP, stating that this decision stemmed from a comprehensive internal security review following the April attack incident.Lombard issues two types of Bitcoin-backed tokens—LBTC and BTC.b—and will prioritize the migration of assets on chains such as Solana, Etherlink, Berachain, Corn, and TAC, while terminating the use of LayerZero on Morph and Swell. Lombard stated that the reason for choosing CCIP is its independent node operators, built-in rate limiting mechanisms, and audited infrastructure. Additionally, the protocol will adopt Chainlink's cross-chain token standard to achieve asset cross-chain circulation through a burn-and-mint model.Previously, Kelp DAO, Solv Protocol, Re, and the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken have all completed similar migrations, with these projects collectively transferring approximately $4 billion in assets. Chainlink Labs Chief Business Officer Johann Eid stated, "We are witnessing a continued wave of risk-averse migration within the industry."

Forbes: SBF's venture capital capabilities reassessed; if not imprisoned, could possess a fortune of $100 billion

According to Forbes, SBF's early investment portfolio is being re-evaluated by the market, with some opinions suggesting that if he had not been imprisoned due to the FTX collapse, his venture capital layout could theoretically yield a wealth increase of up to about $100 billion. Before the FTX collapse, SBF had established an investment landscape covering several star companies, including Anthropic, SpaceX, Robinhood, and the AI programming tool Cursor, which was considered to have significant foresight.Industry insiders pointed out that he had bet on key tracks ahead of the AI wave, among which: Cursor recently reached a partnership with SpaceX, with a valuation potentially reaching $60 billion, and Anthropic's valuation is nearing $90 billion. Rory O'Driscoll, a partner at Scale Venture Partners, stated that SBF had laid out investments in several core AI companies before ChatGPT, "demonstrating a rare investment sensitivity." However, this "investment talent narrative" was ultimately completely altered by the FTX collapse.SBF is currently serving a 25-year sentence for misappropriating over $8 billion in customer funds. At his peak, his personal wealth reached about $24 billion, and he made it onto the Forbes 400 list. Today, his venture capital capabilities are intertwined with his history of financial crime, making him one of the most controversial cases in cryptocurrency history.

The U.S. SEC has postponed the review of the first batch of prediction market ETFs, which are linked to real events such as election outcomes and economic recessions

According to Reuters, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed the review of the first batch of predictive market ETFs, resulting in the postponement of more than 24 products originally scheduled for launch. Insiders revealed that the SEC is requesting issuers to provide further clarification on product mechanisms and information disclosure details, and this delay is expected to be temporary.Issuers such as Roundhill Investments, Bitwise Asset Management, and GraniteShares submitted applications in February this year to launch ETF products linked to real-world events such as election results, economic recessions, tech layoffs, and oil prices.According to SEC rules, ETF applications typically become effective automatically 75 days after submission unless the regulatory agency intervenes. Currently, Roundhill has set May 5 as the effective date, and Bitwise and GraniteShares' products are also expected to launch around the same time. The market is closely watching whether the SEC will ultimately approve these products that open up the "event contract" asset class.Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan stated, "This is a rapidly maturing field, and regulation is maturing in parallel," noting that innovative products like Bitcoin ETFs have also gone through a lengthy review process but ultimately launched successfully.
