The Curve community LlamaRisk has initiated a proposal to "Disable All Elixir Market Gauges." The proposal states that shutting down the gauges of the relevant pools can prevent CRV emission logistics from flowing into the corresponding emission pools. The proposal points out that the DeFi protocol Elixir, which underpins the synthetic stablecoin deUSD (and its staked derivative sdeUSD), officially ceased the issuance and cancellation of these two tokens from November 6 to 7, 2025. The main reason is the collapse of its primary counterparty, Stream Finance.

The South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb listed Divijen (DVI) as a trading warning project on November 7 and suspended deposits; At the same time, it reminded that Elixir (ELX) may experience increased price volatility due to fluctuations in the stablecoin deUSD. Users are advised to exercise caution when investing in Elixir (ELX).

Elixir's official Twitter account announced that the stablecoin deUSD has officially been retired and no longer holds any value. The platform will initiate a USDC compensation process for all holders of deUSD and its derivatives (such as sdeUSD). The affected parties include collateral providers on lending platforms, AMM LPs, Pendle LPs, and others.Elixir also warns users not to purchase or invest in deUSD through AMM or other channels.

DeFi research and risk management company Gauntlet previously recommended that the Ethereum lending protocol Compound implement a temporary emergency pause on the following independent lending Comet markets in v3: USDC on Ethereum, USDS on Ethereum, and USDT on Ethereum. This proposal has now been approved, and after the pause, the lending markets for USDC and USDS resumed withdrawals on November 6.Compound stated that it will gradually restore the markets while ensuring the safety of the system. This move aims to address the liquidity crisis of deUSD and sdeUSD under Elixir, both of which have been listed as collateral on Ethereum USDC, USDS, and USDT. On November 4, Stream Finance disclosed that its fund assets suffered a loss of $93 million, with Elixir bearing an exposure of $68 million, leading to a liquidity crisis for its stablecoins deUSD and sdeUSD.

Elixir Protocol has announced the termination of its deUSD synthetic stablecoin, a move triggered by the chain reaction following Stream Finance's suspension of withdrawals earlier this week.Stream Finance has encountered difficulties due to an external fund manager disclosing a $93 million loss, currently owing Elixir over $68 million. Elixir has processed approximately 80% of the deUSD holders' redemption requests and has taken a snapshot of the remaining holders, promising to fully redeem at a 1:1 ratio with USDC. Currently, Stream Finance holds about 90% of the deUSD supply (approximately $75 million), and Elixir is working with decentralized lending platforms such as Euler, Morpho, and Compound to liquidate its Stream positions and allocate funds to deUSD holders.

Sui ecosystem lending protocol Suilend announced on platform X that the Elixir team has repaid all USDC debts, and the previously isolated lending market withdrawal function has been restored.SuiLend previously stated that it is closely monitoring the significant loss issue of Stream Finance, with its $93 million loss being the largest single risk exposure belonging to Elixir's deUSD.

Sui Ecosystem Lending ProtocolSui lend stated on platform X that it is closely monitoring the significant loss issue of Stream Finance. It is reported that the largest single risk exposure of its $93 million loss belongs to Elixir's deUSD, which lent $68 million USDC to Stream, accounting for approximately 65% of deUSD's total reserves.SuiLend added that the deposit and withdrawal functions for the Elixir market on its platform have been suspended, and it has contacted the Elixir team to request loan repayment. Other lending markets of SuiLend remain unaffected and are still secure.
