JPMorgan: The de-risking phase for cryptocurrencies may have ended, and there are signs of stabilization in ETF fund flows

JPMorgan stated that the previous "de-risking" process in the crypto market may be nearing its end, with signs of stabilization in the fund flows of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. The analysis team led by JPMorgan Managing Director Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou pointed out in a recent report that although BTC and ETH ETFs experienced outflows in December 2025, global stock ETFs recorded a historic monthly net inflow of $235 billion during the same period, several indicators began to improve as January 2026 approached. The report noted that the fund flows of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have shown "signs of bottoming," while the positions in perpetual contracts and CME Bitcoin futures indicate that selling pressure is easing. Analysts believe that the phase of retail and institutional investors simultaneously reducing positions during the fourth quarter of 2025 is likely over.Additionally, JPMorgan pointed out that MSCI's decision not to exclude Bitcoin and crypto asset reserve companies from the global stock index in the February 2026 index review also provided the market with "at least a temporary relief," benefiting related companies including Strategy. The report also denied that the recent pullback in the crypto market was due to worsening liquidity. JPMorgan believes that the real trigger was MSCI's statement on October 10 regarding MicroStrategy's index status, which initiated a systemic de-risking operation, and current signs indicate that this process is essentially complete.

Bitfinex: Bitcoin consolidates in the $100,000 range, but the market shows signs of stabilization

ChainCatcher message, Bitfinex post analysis, last week, Bitcoin reached an all-time high, breaking the $100,000 mark for the first time, hitting a historic high of $104,000. This marks a 111% increase from Bitcoin's low of below $50,000 during the summer. However, after the rebound, there was a significant 14.84% pullback, including a rapid 10% drop within just eight minutes, which is the largest pullback from the current all-time high since the sell-off before the U.S. elections. This pullback triggered over $1.1 billion in liquidations, with $419 million in Bitcoin long positions, highlighting the level of leverage in the market.Despite the market's extreme volatility, signs of stabilization are emerging. The realized profit metric had peaked at $10.5 billion daily but has now dropped to $2.5 billion, easing selling pressure. The futures funding rate has also normalized, indicating a decrease in speculative leverage. Although ETF inflows slightly slowed over the weekend, they remain a key source of support against the backdrop of long-term holders continuing to take profits. As Bitcoin consolidates above $100,000, the medium-term outlook remains bullish, and with the normalization of funding rates and easing selling pressure, there is potential for further upside as long as ETF inflows continue to increase.Additionally, the Federal Reserve is assessing potential policy shifts that the new government may undertake, while the economy remains supported by a resilient labor market and stable consumer demand. However, the uneven recovery across various sectors suggests a need for cautious optimism.

Arthur Hayes: The new monetary policy in the United States will drive the stabilization and rebound of the cryptocurrency market

ChainCatcher news, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes expressed optimism about Bitcoin's trend in his latest blog post titled "May Risks." Hayes provided a detailed analysis of the potential impact of recent changes in U.S. monetary policy on the crypto market.Hayes pointed out that the Federal Reserve's decision to reduce the pace of balance sheet reduction from $95 billion per month to $60 billion essentially adds $35 billion in liquidity each month. At the same time, the U.S. Treasury revealed in its latest quarterly borrowing report that it will issue additional short-term Treasury bonds with maturities of 4 weeks, 6 weeks, and 8 weeks to meet funding needs before the end of May. This move is expected to bring additional dollar liquidity to the market. Hayes also mentioned that after the bankruptcy of the small U.S. bank Republic First Bank, the FDIC activated its insurance fund to ensure the interests of all depositors in order to avoid a bank run. This means that U.S. authorities have effectively added $6.7 trillion in contingent liabilities to the banking system nationwide.Hayes believes that these factors will continue to inject dollars into the market, alleviating downward pressure on cryptocurrencies and driving Bitcoin to stabilize and rebound in the coming months. He predicts that Bitcoin may have bottomed out around $58,600 and will next return above $60,000, consolidating in the $60,000-$70,000 range until the end of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. He also revealed his optimism for a rebound and is currently accumulating high Beta tokens like SOL on dips.
