Riptide is the fifth Solana Hackathon and the first to gather builders from around the world at Solana Hacker Houses. Solana Ventures announced the results of the Riptide global hackathon today.
The Riptide hackathon brought together crypto pioneers and developers from around the globe to build on the Solana blockchain, covering everything from payments, DeFi, gaming, DAOs, and everything in between. Riptide focuses on bringing the next wave of high-impact projects into the Solana ecosystem.
The Riptide hackathon attracted nearly 7,000 participants, with 550 final projects submitted to the judges. Google, Visa, Jump Crypto, Samsung NEXT, MonkeDAO, and Mango joined Solana Ventures as category sponsors for the global hackathon, providing participants with a global prize pool and seed funding of up to $5 million.
Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana Labs, said, "I am excited to see the projects that started building on Solana during Riptide." Grand Champion
Cronos:
Cronos is an on-chain task scheduler that allows users to schedule instructions, providing Solana users with a secure and reliable way to schedule tasks using the validator network. The system incentivizes validators and RPC nodes to execute scheduled transactions, enabling developers to build on-chain automation without sacrificing decentralization.
Cronos received a grand prize of 65,000 USDC and passes to attend the annual Solana conference Breakpoint held in Lisbon from November 4 to 7, 2022, where they will showcase their project.

Second Place: Advent
Advent is the first fixed-rate lending protocol with centralized liquidity. It allows for fixed-rate deposits or loans of any term to be drawn from a single central fund pool. The ability to draft fixed-rate loans with custom maturity dates addresses the current dilemma between volatile loans and fixed-rate loans, with liquidity dispersed at maturity. Since Advent also includes a variable-rate lending protocol, it is a fully functional lending product.

Million Finance offers a self-balancing, non-custodial index fund that generates yield. It is currently a functioning product and has been deployed to Solana Devnet. Users can create or invest in custom index funds that can follow any theme, such as a basket of tokens related to DeFi, NFTs, or "top 5 tokens." Each fund is a liquidity pool composed of multiple tokens with targeted weight allocations. Traders can exchange tokens by leveraging the liquidity of the deposited index fund. Traders pay fees for this service to the mining pool, which distributes the rewards among shareholders.
