There are more donation-related projects, DAO tools, and projects aimed at lowering the Web3 threshold, primarily built on the Optimism and Polygon networks.

From April 22 to 24, ETHGlobal held the ETHAmsterdam offline hackathon in Amsterdam, with sponsors including Optimism, Mina, Polygon, WalletConnect, Livepeer, 1inch, SKALE, and others providing over $400,000 in prizes to attract developers to build using their networks or technologies.

Among the 13 winning projects announced by ETHGlobal last night, there are funding applications like Retr0x, which separates retroactive and regenerative funding on Optimism, tools like Democrazy that support anonymous governance voting through zero-knowledge proofs, as well as cross-chain debt migration application Tempra developed by the Fuji Finance team, and the on-chain "self-destruct" platform Tempra. Overall, there is a higher prevalence of donation-related, DAO tools, and projects aimed at lowering the barriers to Web3, primarily built on the Optimism and Polygon networks.

Retr0x: Retroactive Regenerative Public Goods Funding Application on Optimism

Retr0x is a retro-generative public goods funding application deployed on Optimism, designed to combine retroactive and regenerative funding into a single protocol in the most motivating way for project development. Once the funding allocation is determined, the retroactive portion of the funds will be delivered in one lump sum to the self-service recipient, while the regenerative portion will be distributed periodically over a set period through Superfluid.

Nimi: Deploy Web3 Personal Pages to .eth Domains

Nimi will allow users to build Web3 profile pages and deploy them to .eth domains. Specifically, Nimi combines ENS, IPFS, and Lens to enable users to easily host content on their ENS domains.

Hexagons Protocol: Build Social Media-Driven Smart Contract Protocol and Framework

Hexagons Protocol states, "Once users link their social media accounts (including Twitter, Lens, Discord, etc.) to their Ethereum address, they can use the Hexagons protocol to build applications that trigger smart contract operations based on specific posts, thereby lowering the barrier for users to enter Web3."

In terms of implementation, the Hexagons Protocol framework consists of a Solidity library (implementing hooks-logic and basic interfaces) and off-chain components for interacting with oracles and social media platforms.

Democrazy: Anonymous Voting

Democrazy supports privacy-preserving off-chain governance voting through zero-knowledge proofs, where individual votes are encrypted and only the total results are displayed.

FLOAN: Cross-Chain Debt Migration

FLOAN will allow users to transfer their debt positions (including collateral and debt) to other protocols on different chains with one click. The FLOAN team mainly consists of several members from Fuji Finance, a DeFi lending aggregator on Fantom, including co-founders and smart contract developers. FLOAN has also received bounties from Connext Network and Aave Grants.

FLOAN states that there will be a Teleporter contract on each chain, holding liquidity to repay users' debts. Additionally, FLOAN will leverage Connext to help bridge assets. The specific workflow is as follows:

  • Teleporter repays user loans;
  • Teleporter withdraws user collateral;
  • User collateral is bridged to another chain;
  • Collateral is stored on the new platform;
  • Assets are accessed using collateral;
  • Borrowed assets are provided back to the liquidity pool.

Tempra: On-Chain Instant Messaging Platform

Tempra is inspired by the self-destruct photo-sharing application Snapchat, allowing users to upload photos and videos or message friends, but these contents will become inaccessible after a certain period.

Tempra combines Lens Protocol with Lit Protocol and Livepeer, all deployed on Polygon Mumbai. The short-term accessibility of content is achieved through a custom updatable Lit Protocol, which restricts users from viewing information after a set time.

PFPnative: Rapid Launch and Distribution of PFP Series

PFPnative is a no-code tool deployed on Optimism that allows anyone to quickly launch and distribute PFP generation series, and also set minting prices to enrich the treasury.

DAOra: Project Management and DAO Analytics Tracker

DAOra is a DAO task management and analytics tracker that will allow users to track tasks across DAOs and earn contributor rewards. Anyone holding DAO tokens can create new tasks and post bounties, and after task completion, other DAO members can vote on the submitted proof of completion. The DAO analytics tracker can also measure the engagement of members holding DAO social tokens through a decentralized score.

Yieldgate: Donate Earnings from Staking MATIC Tokens to Creators or Projects

Yieldgate allows anyone to easily stake MATIC tokens and donate the earnings to their favorite creators and projects. Of course, users can also withdraw their MATIC tokens at any time.

Detris: NFT Tetris Game

Detris is an NFT puzzle game project where users can mint an NFT and then play Tetris, and after finishing, they can mint the puzzle process as an NFT on Optimism.

Activitydao: Facilitate the Creation and Operation of Event Sub-Communities

Activitydao attempts to implement a cost-free DAO to facilitate the creation and operation of sub-communities around events.

Activitydao plans to improve the DAO by implementing the following operational features:

  • Allow free and quick joining of DAO communities around events;
  • Create DAO communities around events;
  • As members of the DAO, communities will be able to vote on upcoming events and propose new events.

In this process, Activitydao allows users to participate in the DAO by staking a certain amount of tokens. If someone does not participate in this staking activity, they will lose those tokens, which will then be shared among those who genuinely participate in the activity.

Creatorsight: Help Creators Analyze Collectors

Creatorsight is a platform built for Web3 creators that helps them analyze and understand their collector address data, including top collector addresses, average NFT holding times, and more.

Collective Action: Peer-to-Peer Donation Platform

Collective Action is a decentralized donation platform. Donors can create a prize pool for a specified task, and others can complete these tasks and upload proof, or they can donate to the prize pool. For every 1 MATIC spent, contributors will receive 1 CoAc token.

Additionally, the prize pool is staked on Aave to earn interest on MATIC, generating profits for the platform. Collective Action does not charge users any fees.

Others

Of course, many sponsors also provided bounties for projects utilizing their protocols, networks, or technologies. For example, besides the aforementioned Yieldgate and FLOAN, Aavegotchi card game Aavegotchi-TT and ZK proof cross-chain bridge Zk-maia also received Aave bounties.

Among them, Aavegotchi-TT allows users to bet DAI and battle with their Aavegotchis, with the bet DAI placed into the Aave deposit vault, and the winner can earn double the bet amount plus the earnings from the Aave deposit vault.

Zk-maia is built on Polygon, allowing users to transfer their assets at low cost while earning interest in the process. Zk-maia utilizes Tornado.Cash to add two yield functions to its application and Connext cross-chain functionality, lending all ETH deposited by users to the Aave protocol to earn yield, incentivizing users to keep their funds in the application for a longer duration.
