On September 3rd, the first offline salon event of "Wujie XYZ," co-hosted by Wujie Map, Mfers, Babit, and Hangzhou Timestamp Micro Blue Information Consulting Co., Ltd., was successfully held at the Future Blockchain Innovation Center in Hangzhou, China. The theme was "Breaking the Boundaries of Digital Copyright and the Metaverse."

This salon invited guests including Wujie Map Operations Director Aben, Comic Artist Shijiu Fan, Wujie Map Chief Researcher Liu Qiushan, Founder of the Watchers Alliance Jiang Lei, Wujie Map Blind Box Curator Wu Ji, NFTGo Bowei, and Young Artist Zhai Mofan, gathering numerous leading NFT KOLs, emerging artists, domestic digital art practitioners, and senior Web 3.0 researchers to jointly envision a new world of the Metaverse and Web3!

At the event, Aben, as the first guest, elaborated on "Wujie Map, a digital copyright platform based on the Web 3.0 creator economy," detailing the positioning, philosophy, operational model, and vision of Wujie Map. He stated that Wujie Map is a secure, reliable, and user-friendly digital copyright registration and auction platform for artworks, leveraging blockchain technology.

Wujie Map is also committed to creating a digital copyright platform based on the Web3 creator economy, empowering creators through a creator center, creator services, creator monetization, and creator communities. In Aben's view, the core of Web3 is the community.

Famous Comic Artist Shijiu Fan

Next, famous comic artist Shijiu Fan shared "The Similarities and Differences Between DAO and Anime IP Production Committees" with the attendees. He mentioned that Japan's "IP production committee model" and Disney's large-scale, capital-intensive IP model have created a number of super IPs. In comparison, the "IP production committee model" reduces risks and capital investment compared to the Disney model, but both are "yesterday's news" in the face of the DAO model in the Web3 era.

The DAO community co-building IP model involves investors, capable operators, KOLs, and individual organizations coming together to participate in the community and co-build the IP. "DAO's IP co-building is more interesting," he said. However, he also believes that regardless of the operational model, as a creator, ensuring a continuous stream of IP content creation is fundamental.

Wujie Map researcher Liu Qiushan, in his presentation titled "AI Art DAO: How AI Art Connects Artists and the Public," stated that AI art allows everyone to become an "artist," providing a zero-threshold painting creation platform for the general public, enabling everyone to showcase their personalized style and enjoy the fun of artistic creation.

Founder of the Watchers Alliance Jiang Lei presented on "How Top Trendy Artists Gather to Build the Basic Ecosystem of Content IP for Web3." He stated that the core of the Web3 era is content, products, and technology, with content being the top priority. "We have always followed the changes in the world, but we must not forget to adhere to the unchanging underlying logic."

Next, Wujie Map Blind Box Curator Wu Ji focused on mfers in his presentation titled "Exploring the Boundaries of Digital Copyright and CC0 Secondary Creation," analyzing the CC0 protocol adopted by mfers and deconstructing the current common DAO models.

He believes that CC0 secondary creation is more like a boundless infinite game. From domestic digital collections, physical cultural creations, spiritual claims, derivative comics, challenge activities, emojis, and derivative PFPs, just from these simple combinations, one can uncover 128 types of case studies. While the operational structure of DAO is more loose compared to companies, it also possesses more interesting possibilities because it starts from "points of interest."

At the "Wujie XYZ" event, hosted by Ruiya, a heated discussion took place during the roundtable meeting on "The Future of Digital Art: How to View Trends and Opportunities," featuring Liu Qiushan, one of the authors of "The Metaverse: The Road to Infinite Games," animation artist Shijiu Fan, Wujie Map Blind Box Curator Wu Ji, Mfers holder community OG Bowei, and young artist Zhai Mofan.

Regarding the views of pure art creators on NFTs, Zhai Mofan believes that because NFTs have financial or internet attributes, there is a certain threshold. How to better output to creators and help them accept it is also a topic worth exploring. Shijiu Fan stated that Web3.0 has reignited his desire and ideas for creation, suggesting that creating NFTs in front of the computer at night and enjoying spiritual life in nature during the day might become a common lifestyle for artists in the new pandemic era.

From the perspective of the blockchain-related field, Bowei believes that many people joining the NFT field currently are motivated by profit, but there are also many who gather together due to faith, finding a state of freedom that aligns with their preferences through recognition of NFT works and the communities behind them. Liu Qiushan stated that perhaps the niche NFT circle now has the opportunity to become mainstream.

Regarding the CC0 shared co-creation model, Shijiu Fan expressed concerns about how to ensure the creator's earnings if the IP is CC0. How can the IP owner's earnings be guaranteed? From the case of the internationally renowned IP Kumamon, the Web2.0 approach might suggest that profits can come from the pig, while the Web3.0 approach can also derive profits from various other sources. Although the designer of Kumamon seems not to have received royalties, a portion of the huge tax revenue received by Kumamoto Prefecture can be fed back to the designer and the IP side in other forms.

At the same time, Wu Ji believes that culture itself can be completely open-sourced. As long as the culture is attractive enough, even without any entities behind it, it can still incubate more things through a "spiritual core," but this often requires a long time to settle. If the CC0 community or the NFT community wants to develop to a certain scale within their lifetime, there still needs to be an entity behind it to promote it.

Bowei also expressed agreement with both views. He believes that CC0 and DAO are not strongly correlated, and the issue of copyright fees is not simply a matter of 0 and 1. The rights he loses are the pure economic income from authorizing others for commercial use, but it can bring other benefits to creators. At the same time, CC0 needs one or more entities to promote it, which can also bring more income to creators, forming a virtuous cycle that is worth exploring.

At the end of the roundtable meeting, the guests looked ahead to the future of digital art. In their view, the future of digital art will belong to co-creation, no longer a model of a big brand. AI, as a production tool, will make it easier for more people to enter this market, but the outstanding ones will still be a minority of creators with their own value propositions. "How to achieve empathy with others" remains a task for digital art creators.
