The Hong Kong Faster Payment System is currently conducting a value-added test for digital RMB wallets
Chain Catcher News, on the 9th, Hong Kong Monetary Authority Vice President Li Dazhi stated that the Faster Payment System (FPS) has been launched for nearly 4 years, and as of the end of August, there have been 10.9 million registrations, with usage continuing to grow steadily. Relevant departments of the SAR government are cooperating with the Digital Currency Research Institute of the People's Bank of China, making Hong Kong the first cross-border pilot outside the mainland for digital renminbi, conducting technical tests.
It is reported that the technical testing has now entered the second phase, mainly testing the top-up of digital renminbi wallets through FPS. The scope and scale of the tests have also expanded, with the number of participating banks increasing from 1 to 4. The progress is currently good, and more digital renminbi operating institutions and local banks will be introduced to participate in the tests in due course, so that Hong Kong residents can use digital renminbi in the mainland in the future.
