What are the notable projects in the 15th round of the Gitcoin donation campaign?
Author: Biscuit, Chain Catcher
The 15th round of the Gitcoin donation campaign (GR15) officially launched on September 7 and will run until the 22nd. As the most influential donation platform and event in the crypto industry, Gitcoin positions itself as the place for the birth, validation, and funding of web3 projects. If any project is available for free use by everyone and has a positive impact on the world, it may qualify to participate in the Gitcoin donation campaign and gain economic benefits from its contributions to the community.
What makes Gitcoin unique is that it uses quadratic funding to help projects and organizations raise funds. Before each round of donation activities, Gitcoin raises funds from various parties in the crypto industry to match the actual donations made by users in each round. For specific matching models, refer to the "Comprehensive Understanding of Gitcoin: Technical Solutions and Current Weaknesses in Public Goods Fundraising."
As of this round, Gitcoin has distributed over $64 million in donation funds. Over three years, Gitcoin has facilitated more than 2,500 grants from tens of thousands of unique donors, involving over 2 million donations.
In this round of donations, the total matching funds committed from the crypto industry exceed $2.8 million, setting a new record. This includes the main round ($500,000), four cause rounds ($1 million matching pool), and 13 ecosystem rounds ($1.3 million+ matching pool).
In the main round, GR15 will distribute $500,000 in matching funds through quadratic funding, which can greatly assist in funding and sustaining future Web3 projects.
The four cause rounds will match projects with $1 million, covering climate solutions, crypto advocacy/regulation, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), as well as the newly added decentralized science (DeSci).
The ecosystem rounds will match projects with $1.3 million, including three brand new rounds. The ecosystem rounds fund grants that support specific ecosystem goals, such as Ethereum, Polygon, or Optimism. The newly added three rounds are a16z (@a16z), Greater China Community (@PlanckerDao), and Forta (@FortaNetwork).
Currently, over 2,800 projects have registered and participated in donations on the Gitcoin official website. Compared to previous donation events, the number of popular tracks like DeFi and NFTs has decreased in GR15, while the mention frequency of education and community projects has increased.
This article highlights some noteworthy projects in GR15 compiled by Chain Catcher.

Lenstube
Lenstube is an open-source Web3 video-sharing social media platform based on the Lens protocol, running on the Polygon mainnet. Creators can upload their content to Arweave, with data permanently stored on Polygon. With low gas fees, users can publish their video content and monetize it. Additionally, viewers can support users by minting their favorite content and tipping, or by joining channels through memberships.
Lenstube aims to develop a decentralized video-sharing application that allows content creators to own their video content and always monetize it through various means (such as an NFT module).

LXDAO
LXDAO is a DAO focused on research and development. LX stands for conscience, representing the core values of the community: doing sustainable and valuable things. The community gathers builders to construct and maintain valuable Web3 projects sustainably.
First, LX builders post an idea in the community, and builders discuss it. This is like a brainstorming phase. Once the idea matures, builders skilled in product management begin designing the product, and project managers propose it (including development resources, budget, etc.). Then, a community vote is conducted. Once approved, the project manager will start assembling a team with the appropriate skills from the community. During development, the project manager needs to write a project progress report weekly.

Lenster
Lenster is a decentralized, permissionless social media application built on the Lens Protocol. Lenster operates on the Polygon network and only requires users to submit a username (chosen by the user) and a wallet address, without collecting any sensitive information, providing good privacy for users.
Additionally, Lenster hosts data on the decentralized file storage system IPFS, meaning there is no downtime, and no one can DDoS the platform.

SyncSwap
SyncSwap is a decentralized exchange (DEX) built by the zkSync development team MatterLabs, bringing easy-to-use, fast, and low-cost DeFi to everyone, powered by zero-knowledge technology to inherit Ethereum's security.
SyncSwap supports customizable fee structures, advanced routing, voting escrow token models, and governance, among other features. Additionally, SyncSwap focuses on user experience, adopting a newly designed interface and fast, low-cost L2 technology. SyncSwap's vision is to establish a fully seamless, easy-to-use, and feature-rich one-stop DeFi hub.

Scopefy
The Scopefy protocol is a Web3 social graph on the Polygon network, designed to empower content creators to own their links with the community, forming a fully composable, user-owned social graph.
Scopefy achieves graph functionality by allowing users to create profiles and interact with each other through these profiles. After creating a profile, users will receive a sequential ID profile NFT. This NFT controls the profile, making its owner the actual controller of the given profile.

Metopia
Metopia is an infrastructure project for generating on-chain NFT identities and DAO applications, providing users with applications for governance, rewards, and launchpads to create data-based user reputation systems.
The reputation system automatically aggregates user profiles from data protocols (RSS3, Ceramic, Moralis, The Graph, etc.). The governance platform allows for customizing DAO governance strategies based on user contributions and credentials. The rewards certification platform allows the community to reward members' contributions through POAP, SBT, and more.
Metopia serves as the infrastructure for creating user-side reputation systems and a provider of governance based on user reputation, creating new community standards for Web 3, from membership management to community development.

MetaMail
MetaMail is a web3 email provider. MetaMail users use wallets/ENS as email addresses (e.g., suneal.eth@mmail.ink) and sign/encrypt to ensure security. MetaMail is compatible with other emails like Gmail. All these features are completely free.
Users can sign and encrypt emails when using MetaMail. The public key is recorded on the blockchain, eliminating the need to exchange public keys. When users send emails, they sign the entire email content with their private key. Recipients can verify the integrity of the email based on the digital signature.
Email content maintains the traditional email format and is seamlessly transmitted via SMTP to all other email addresses. When sending emails to other MetaMail users, the recipient's public key can be used for end-to-end encryption, ensuring that only the recipient can decrypt the email content.

Users can mint two types of tProof proofs: Hash-only for those who only want to publish the file hash on-chain, and Hash-with-file, which uploads the original file to the Arweave permaweb along with the hash, attaching the public URL of the file to the minted tProof via Chainlink Oracles.
The team states that they do not plan to release a token within the next six months, but issuing a token is a necessary evolution of the protocol. The tProof token will take the form of an NFT collection, and holders will share the minting revenue of the product and participate in community governance with voting rights.
