Avalanche is about to launch the AvalancheGo upgrade Banff, and anyone can become a subnet validator

Chain Catcher News, Avalanche announced the upcoming launch of the AvalancheGo upgrade "Banff," which will be activated on the Fuji testnet on October 3 at 22:00, with the mainnet activation time to be announced later. Banff unlocks the ability for subnet creators to use their own tokens to activate proof-of-stake validation and rewards based on uptime on their own subnets, meaning anyone can become a validator for a subnet simply by staking their tokens on the P-Chain.

Subnets that choose to enable these new features must convert to the elastic new subnet in one go. When enabling elastic validation, creators permanently lock the subnet to prevent future modifications (relinquishing control keys), specify the validators that must be used for staking and will be distributed as staking rewards in Avalanche Native Token (ANT), and provide a set of parameters that control how the subnet staking mechanism works (such as what the minimum staking amount is).
