StarkWare President: The native token will go on-chain in October, and Cairo 1.0 will be launched by the end of the year
ChainCatcher news, StarkWare President Eli Ben-Sasson revealed that their L2 scaling solutions StarkEx and StarkNet are approaching two significant milestones: first, the release of the upgraded native smart contract language for StarkNet, Cairo 1.0, which has now been completed and is expected to launch by the end of 2022; afterward, the team will also restart StarkNet on the Ethereum mainnet, named "Regensis," aimed at improving network DoS attack protection and reducing gas fees.
In addition, Eli Ben-Sasson stated that the originally scheduled native token issuance plan for September has been postponed because they want to improve their work on Solidity contracts, so the StarkWare native token will go live within October. However, Eli Ben-Sasson pointed out that they will not provide free tokens to users in the initial phase, and all tokens will be locked immediately after the release.
Eli Ben-Sasson also revealed that StarkWare will soon announce the establishment of a foundation responsible for token allocation and distribution. (Decrypt)
