OffChain Labs co-founder: The current hype around the narrative of the "first zkEVM mainnet" is harming the community

ChainCatcher news, Steven Goldfeder, co-founder and CEO of Arbitrum development company OffChain Labs, stated on his social platform that although many teams are steadily advancing zkEVM, we are far from the "golden age," and any team promoting this narrative is harming the community.

Steven Goldfeder pointed out that some teams claim the first zkEVM will launch on the mainnet by the end of this month, but in reality, this zkEVM testnet has not enabled zk-proofs and has not undergone a security audit. He stated, "Promoting the first mainnet zkEVM when we are still far away does no good for anyone," undoubtedly putting "competitors who are doing the right thing in a difficult position."

Previously in July, when Polygon announced the open-source zkEVM code, Steven Goldfeder also publicly stated, "We have not reached a point where any team has a functioning zkEVM prover, so I believe zkEVM is still far from normal operation." (Source link)
