According to ChainCatcher, TechCrunch reported that Google acquired the AI Avatar startup Alter for about $100 million two months ago. Alter helps creators and brands express their virtual identities. Currently, neither party has disclosed specific transaction details.

Alter was originally known as Facemoji, a platform that provides plug-and-play technology to help game and app developers integrate avatar systems into their applications. Facemoji raised $3 million in seed funding from investors such as Play Ventures, Roosh Ventures, and Twitter. Later, Facemoji was renamed to Alter. (source link)
