The Shanghai government will issue digital RMB consumption red envelopes worth over 40 million yuan

ChainCatcher news, the Shanghai government announced a joint investment of 40.6 million yuan with seven banks including the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the Agricultural Bank of China, to distribute 700,000 digital RMB red envelopes with a discount of 58 yuan on a minimum spend of 108 yuan through a random lottery. Consumers in Shanghai can register to participate in the red envelope lottery from 0:00 on November 19 to 0:00 on November 22. Winners can use the digital RMB red envelopes for consumption at online and offline pilot merchants that have completed the upgrade of their digital RMB acceptance terminals. (Shanghai Release)
