The vice president of Vidente, the largest shareholder of Bithumb, committed suicide by jumping off a building during an investigation by the South Korean prosecution
ChainCatcher news, according to Money Today, the vice president of Vidente, the largest shareholder of the South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb, Park, committed suicide by jumping off a building during an investigation by the South Korean prosecution. It is reported that Park was under investigation for embezzlement and stock price manipulation related to Bithumb. Park is a key suspect in this case and was responsible for accounting work under the behind-the-scenes chairman of Bithumb, Kang Jong-hyun, and his sister, Kang Ji-yeon.
Reports suggest that there are suspicions that Park chose to commit suicide possibly because the recently surfaced Kang siblings shifted all the blame for misappropriating public funds and manipulating stock prices onto him. The Kang siblings are suspected of seeking improper benefits through stock price manipulation and issuing convertible bonds, as well as establishing a bribery fund by stealing funds from a company set up under a borrowed name.
Earlier in October, it was reported that the South Korean prosecution conducted seizures and searches on multiple companies related to the cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb, including INBIOGEN, Vidente, Bucket Studio, and others. (source link)
