ChainCatcher news, regarding the hacking incident that occurred last December, the Web3 multi-chain wallet BitKeep recently announced in their Telegram group that a specific compensation portal will be launched in the first week of February. It is expected that 50% of the funds will be compensated by the end of February, and the remaining funds will be compensated by the end of March. Regarding the compensation currency, due to price fluctuations, the valuation of the compensated assets will be calculated in a way that converts to USDT, but the specific compensation details will need to wait until the compensation application page is launched, which will serve as the reference for the compensation page.

BitKeep once again promised to fully compensate all affected users and explained that the reason for not being able to provide compensation before the New Year was due to the complexity of the compensation process, as there was a possibility of misappropriation of the damaged funds. The technical team and security agencies completed a closed-loop verification using multi-dimensional information such as the wallet addresses of the stolen users, the stolen amounts, currencies, and times, and designed a rigorous claim verification plan.

ChainCatcher previously reported that on December 26, 2022, the BitKeep wallet was hacked due to APK version hijacking, with stolen funds valued at 8 million dollars. (source link)
