ChainCatcher news, Gnosis Chain co-founder Martin Köppelmann proposed a discussion on the Gnosis governance forum titled "Making GNO Native to Gnosis Chain," aimed at reducing Gnosis Chain's external dependencies to make it more resilient and secure. Köppelmann believes that GNO was originally minted on Ethereum, thus being Ethereum-native, and that the GNO on Gnosis Chain comes from cross-chain bridge contracts.

Köppelmann stated that due to the risks associated with cross-chain bridges, GnosisDAO's inability to enforce the destruction of the total supply of GNO on Ethereum through code, and the fact that GNO minted through rewards on the Gnosis Beacon Chain cannot be minted on Ethereum, he proposed changing the true source of GNO from Ethereum to Gnosis.
