Traffic-Fi is the fusion of social media and Web3.

In the past 12 months, searches related to Web3 have been continuously rising, giving birth to more diverse interaction methods. Traffic-Fi, as a new interaction method based on blockchain technology, is gathering people together in an unprecedented way, creating new opportunities for collaboration in the cryptocurrency field, unlike the Web2 era.

What is Traffic-Fi?

Traffic-Fi is the fusion of social media and Web3.

It is an emerging model focused on on-chain interaction of user data, effectively monetizing the traffic value created by users' data and activities, helping users create better revenue opportunities through self-generated traffic.

In the Web2 world, platforms like YouTube and WhatsApp have over 2 billion users, WeChat and TikTok have over 1 billion, and Facebook has over 2 billion global users. Therefore, it is not difficult to foresee that the future Web3 world will be dominated by traffic, and applications that can guide Web2 traffic to the Web3 domain and handle such massive traffic will perform remarkably in the future.

At the same time, we have enough reason to expect that future Web3 social applications will help incoming traffic users establish broader connections, ultimately forming a unique scale effect.

What triggered the concept of Traffic-Fi?

Throughout the 21st century, Web2 companies have almost monopolized the online realm, which has led to many issues, including data manipulation and unfair value distribution. In the traditional Web2 domain, top platforms like YouTube and TikTok hold a vast amount of user profiles and behavioral data. While this data accumulation captures commercial value for companies, it also creates a significant centralized black box for internet users. As the most important contributors to the internet ecosystem, users only receive a barrage of advertisements and algorithmically constructed attention traps.

The revenue distribution model in Web2 resembles a pyramid, where the platform at the top captures the vast majority of profits, which are then distributed layer by layer downwards. Meanwhile, social users at the bottom not only fail to gain value but are also forced to watch commercial advertisements and participate in some unequal activities without their conscious awareness.

Essentially, in the traditional Web2 internet, most of the value is centrally controlled. Therefore, the emergence of Traffic-Fi aims to return value to user groups, allowing value to flow fairly and transparently among various groups.

How does Traffic-Fi empower social networks?

In the new Web3 context, Traffic-Fi provides a new definition for social networks. The most intuitive feeling it brings to users is that all behaviors and data within the social network, as well as the influence generated in the process, can be monetized, and the effective realization of such value will be directly distributed to the corresponding users.

This means that social users can conveniently monetize traffic in Web3 through Traffic-Fi.

For example, Web3 social users can earn rewards by watching advertisements, voluntarily choose the types of advertisements, or opt not to watch ads. In this way, users gain profits from their online activities, and businesses can target advertisements to more interested users. All participants can enjoy a fairer value distribution, where everyone can receive value that matches their contributions, forming a sustainable business loop.

Based on this logic, Traffic-Fi will bring three major changes to the social network economy:

  1. More equitable value distribution of data ownership through independent mechanisms like tokenization and smart contracts, and the monetization of behavioral data;
  2. Users will begin to have the opportunity to earn rewards and own a portion of internet value;
  3. Autonomy will depend on users, not platforms.

Of course, it is important to note that the starting point of Traffic-Fi is not traffic grabbing, but rather abandoning the competition for users' attention, equating users' attention with on-chain value, and distributing based on user-centric principles, creating entirely new application scenarios, bringing better returns, and ultimately promoting the long-term development of the Web3 social network ecosystem.

Conclusion

The development of Traffic-Fi is still in its early stages; however, some initiatives have already shown great potential to attract users. As practitioners of Web3, the only thing we can do is to continuously build and improve, better bringing Web3 services to every corner of the globe and every aspect of people's lives, making this time come sooner.

In summary, Traffic-Fi can positively impact how users interact on social media and can bring a wave similar to DeFi in the industry. Its potential can become a new wave for establishing highly interactive decentralized platforms.
