Solana: The mainnet outage on February 25 was caused by Turbine congestion
ChainCatcher news, Solana announced that at approximately 13:46:16 Beijing time on February 25, the main reason for the degradation of the Solana mainnet Beta cluster was congestion in the block propagation protocol Turbine. Abnormal network traffic caused Turbine's capacity to saturate, forcing most block data to be transmitted through a very slow backup block repair protocol. Core engineers have identified that this issue was caused by a failure in the deduplication logic within the fragment forwarding service.
Previously, according to CoinDesk, the Solana network experienced a fork event that affected TPS. After the first attempt failed, the issue evolved from slow transaction processing to a near-total interruption of activity on Solana. (Source link)
