PayPal Survey: Metaverse Users Have Higher Adoption Rates for Cryptocurrency, NFTs, DeFi, and VR
According to ChainCatcher news, PayPal recently released the results of a survey titled "Metaverse and Money," with the following key points:
The current focus of the metaverse is gaming, with the majority of respondents playing games (95%) and identifying themselves as gamers (89%);
Metaverse users have a higher adoption rate of cryptocurrencies, NFTs, DeFi, and VR, with 80% of metaverse users using cryptocurrencies, 50% owning NFTs, and 14% using DeFi products;
97% of surveyed metaverse users hold cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin having the highest share at 80.6%, followed by Ethereum (60.1%), and then Robux (30.3%);
Metaverse users use cryptocurrencies more broadly than e-commerce shoppers, indicating their desire for innovation. Over half of metaverse users (56%) expect their use of cryptocurrencies to increase in the next 5 years. A higher percentage of respondents indicated that being able to use cryptocurrencies (89%) and stablecoins (84%) for purchases in the metaverse is very important.
Total spending in the metaverse is expected to reach $72.6 billion next year, with an average annual spending of $92.7 billion over the next 5 years. (Source link)
