Brazil issues cryptocurrency regulation decree, designating the central bank as the cryptocurrency regulatory authority
ChainCatcher news, according to Brazilian crypto media Portal Do Bitcoin, the Brazilian cryptocurrency regulatory decree (Decree No. 11,563) was published today in the official gazette of the Brazilian Union. This decree was signed by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Brazilian Minister of Economy Fernando Haddad, and others. The decree stipulates that the central bank will regulate crypto services and has the authority to grant market operation qualifications to any institution and supervise the operations of the sector. Additionally, in cases where virtual assets are defined as securities, the Securities and Exchange Commission will be responsible for oversight. The decree will take effect on June 20. (source link)
