Kraken is ordered to hand over customer information to the IRS

ChainCatcher news, according to TheBlock, a U.S. judge has ordered the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken to hand over certain personal information of its users as part of an investigation by the IRS.

According to the order, the IRS wants Kraken to identify accounts that had at least $20,000 in cryptocurrency transactions each year from 2016 to 2020. Kraken had previously refused to comply with the IRS subpoena, partly due to concerns that it would be a heavy burden and overly broad.

User personal information includes names, dates of birth, physical addresses, phone numbers, and tax identification numbers, among others. (Source link)
