ChainCatcher News, Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Nicole M. Argentieri delivered a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, announcing the incorporation of the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET) into the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS).
NCET will investigate and prosecute criminal offenses involving the abuse of cryptocurrency, including the investigation and prosecution of cryptocurrency exchanges that facilitate money laundering. This merger means that the number of attorneys in the criminal division will more than double, and any attorney from CCIPS could be assigned to handle NCET cases. Additionally, the merger will exponentially increase the department's overall capability to track cryptocurrency. (Source link)
