September Meet in Singapore: Rebase HackerHouse in Singapore
Author: RHH, Rebase Community In recent years, with the trend of changes in organizational forms, DAOs have gradually become the Organization 3.0 in the minds of organizational management researchers. DAOs gather people through similar ideas and common goals, adopting a decentralized and transparent autonomous approach to gain lasting organizational drive. By extensively using automated tools, they shift people from repetitive and tedious tasks to more creative work.
If DAOs are a new organizational form that carries a specific production relationship, then numerous DAOs will merge and communicate to form a new organizational form—Network Polis. Network Polis will encompass all aspects of our lives; it is an ideal city-state built on a decentralized network, where we will live in a completely new relationship.
Practitioners have made various efforts to better achieve the goals of decentralized governance and trust in this new organizational form. Although there are many innovations, such as MakerDAO combining AI for DAO governance, Zuzalu using zk technology to provide citizens with verifiable identities, and DAOstar proposing EIP-4824 to enhance discoverability, readability, and interoperability among different DAOs.
In reality, however, a more common situation is that many applications are merely Web2 applications dressed in blockchain technology, such as Web3 versions of chat software, and the user experience still falls far short of that of Web2 applications. Therefore, most DAO organizations still choose to use Web2 tools for governance and lack automation, leaving members trapped in a lot of repetitive manual labor, which greatly restricts innovation within the DAO and the development of the DAO itself.
Whether it is DAOs or Network Polis, both are still in their infancy, and there is a long way to go in the future. New organizations can retain their history more objectively through blockchain technology, and their future relies on more prosperous infrastructure and more mature tools to achieve more efficient and automated governance and smoother collaboration, thus realizing scalable development and truly becoming a new organizational form aimed at people.
The Rebase community has always been committed to gathering the power of developers, believing that innovation comes from the collision of ideas and communication of different perspectives. Therefore, on the occasion of Token2049, we are hosting the Rebase Hacker House with the theme Building from DAO to Network Polis, inviting developers to gather in the garden city of Singapore for a 4-day, 3-night co-living and co-creation journey. Through this Hacker House, we hope to build the underlying infrastructure and ecological applications for DAOs and Network Polis, attracting more and more people to participate, and through practice, see clearly the specific appearance of the ideal world we envision amidst the fog of various concepts and ideas.
