ChainCatcher news, Mina Protocol announced on social media that the protocol will undergo a significant upgrade, planning to introduce ZK smart contracts to the mainnet, aiming to greatly increase the products built using Mina.

The upgrade will support zkApp programmability using o1js and enhance security and efficiency through the new proof system Kimchi, while eliminating excess rewards (a temporary incentive measure to increase staking adoption in the early stages of the mainnet). Additionally, Testworld Mission 2.0 is preparing for the upgrade.
