On September 12, the personal biography of Elon Musk, written by American biographer Walter Isaacson, was officially published. As the world's richest and most influential super KOL, many industry insiders are curious whether the book will mention Dogecoin, given Musk's subtle relationship with it, and if so, in what form.
According to compilations from foreign media such as BENZINGA, NewsBTC, and TS2, Musk indeed mentioned Dogecoin multiple times in this personal biography, even revealing many previously unknown "secrets," such as SBF once giving Musk "advice," and Musk himself continuously funding the development of Dogecoin, among others.
BENZINGA found four records about Dogecoin in the book.
Record One: About Dogecoin and Twitter
The first record mainly focuses on the idea of integrating Dogecoin into a social media platform, with the original text as follows:
Kimbal (Musk's brother) believes that his brother (Musk) should start his own social media platform based on blockchain, which could consider integrating payment systems including Dogecoin, and Elon fell into deep thought about this.
After lunch, Musk sent Kimbal several text messages detailing his thoughts on "a blockchain-based social media system that can facilitate payments and send messages like Twitter."
Because (the system) has no centralized server, there is no "choke point," thus guaranteeing freedom of speech.
Musk continued to express that another alternative is Twitter, not just joining its board but directly acquiring it…
From the above, it can be seen that Musk had a serious discussion with his brother Kimbal about the idea of integrating Dogecoin into a social media platform, with Kimbal initially proposing the idea, but Musk providing more detailed thoughts.
However, this idea ultimately did not materialize, leading Musk to choose the alternative of acquiring Twitter.
Record Two: About SBF's Suggestions
The now-infamous SBF also had interactions with Musk and suggested that Musk restructure Twitter, with the original text as follows:
Another person eager to participate in the deal (acquisition of Twitter) was Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), the founder of the now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange FTX, who believed that Twitter could be restructured based on blockchain.
Musk had discussed using blockchain as the underlying technology for Twitter with Kimbal and others. However, despite Musk's interest in cryptocurrencies like Dogecoin, he is not an advocate of blockchain technology. Musk believes that blockchain is too slow to support the fast-paced content frequency of Twitter.
From the above, it can be seen that on the path of reforming social media using blockchain, SBF suggested that Musk adopt a more radical approach, but Musk remained skeptical about the current efficiency of blockchain processing and did not adopt the suggestion.
Record Three: About "Real Doge"
Musk had just sent a private jet to pick up his newly bought Shiba Inu, Floki, which happens to be the logo of Dogecoin.
Musk also brought his other dog, Marvin, but Marvin and Floki did not get along well; neither had been trained to relieve themselves at home, which turned Maye (Musk's mother)'s apartment into a two-bedroom circus.
The book mentions that Musk really likes Floki; once, he flew from Texas to New York for a charity event and specifically brought Floki along to stay in a small apartment belonging to Grimes (Musk's ex-girlfriend).
Record Four: About Dogecoin Elements in Life
- ……Kimbal helped organize a drone show, with images in the night sky including Nikola Tesla, the Dogecoin logo, and an electric pickup Cybertruck…… Stars in attendance included Harrison Ford, Spike Lee, and NFT artist Beeple.
Other Records: About Funding Dogecoin Development
In addition to these four direct records from BENZINGA, NewsBTC and TS2 also found that Musk acknowledged his funding of Dogecoin development in the book, as the author Isaacson described Dogecoin as ------ "he (Musk) has been quietly funding the development of a semi-serious cryptocurrency."
Summary
In summary, the descriptions of Dogecoin do appear multiple times in Musk's biography, but objectively, they do not occupy too much space.
This is not hard to understand; Musk's charisma stems from his innovation and pioneering abilities in various cutting-edge fields such as renewable energy, aerospace, and brain-computer interaction. As for how he views Dogecoin, Isaacson's description of "semi-serious" may be the most fitting.
Looking ahead, Musk will undoubtedly frequently mention Dogecoin due to personal preferences, but whether he will integrate it into specific business operations remains uncertain.
After all, who can predict Musk?
