Definalist: The Upbit wallet system is suspected of failing to check parameter types, leading multiple users to sell off counterfeit coins after receiving them
ChainCatcher news reports that the South Korean cryptocurrency enthusiast community Definalist tweeted that the South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit suddenly stopped deposits and withdrawals of Aptos under the pretext of wallet system maintenance, without any specific reason. Many South Korean users received FAKE-APT tokens, and it has been reported that Upbit's customer service has been calling users who sold the deposited FAKE-APT tokens, requesting refunds.
Definalist stated that Upbit's wallet system seems to have encountered a parameter type check failure, causing all transfers of the same function to be recognized as the same APT native token. If all APT ecosystem tokens are sent to the Upbit wallet, they will be mistakenly identified as APT native tokens. However, since the decimal places of the scammer's tokens are 6, while the native token's decimal places are 8, a more serious outcome was avoided. If the scam tokens had 8 decimal places, all users would have received $25,000 instead of $250.
