SBF's lawyers tried to prevent a Ukrainian witness from testifying
ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, Sam Bankman-Fried's lawyers are trying to prevent a Ukrainian client from testifying in the trial of the failed cryptocurrency exchange founder, claiming that such testimony "would only evoke sympathy and anger from the jury." The request by the Department of Justice to allow the Ukrainian FTX client to testify remotely should be denied.
On Saturday, the Department of Justice requested the court to allow the Ukrainian witness to testify remotely, stating that the witness has "special circumstances that make international travel for testimony more problematic." The prosecution stated that this witness is a young male from Ukraine who "entrusted a significant portion of his life savings to FTX when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022." The lawyers added, "The unique testimony this witness would provide would clearly mention the difficulties and personal circumstances caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine."
