MetaMask partners with Blockaid to launch new security alert feature
ChainCatcher news, Web3 wallet MetaMask has partnered with security startup Blockaid to launch a new feature that can issue security alerts. The official release is planned for November, and MetaMask desktop users can experience this new feature by selecting and adding the Privacy Protection Offline Module (PPOM) under MetaMask experimental settings. This feature is designed to proactively block malicious transactions and protect users from scams, phishing attempts, and hacking attacks.
MetaMask's Senior Product Lead Bárbara Schorchit stated that the PPOM is essentially an offline security engine that can simulate and verify transactions before signing them, using only node RPC communication requests to the configured node provider, without sending any additional data to external servers. Users will see alerts when a transaction appears to be malicious.
Schorchit said, "By the first quarter of 2024, we intend to seamlessly integrate this new feature into the wallet and enable it by default, making it available to 100% of MetaMask users."
According to Web3 asset data platform RootData, Web3 security startup Blockaid has raised $33 million in funding, which was divided into two rounds—$6 million in seed funding and $27 million in Series A funding.
