BitMEX plans to send Bitcoin to the moon on January 8

ChainCatcher news, BitMEX will send Bitcoin to the Moon from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida at 02:18 AM EST on January 8 (14:28 Beijing time). This mission, in collaboration with Astrobotic, Bitcoin Magazine, and Oxcart Assembly, aims to demonstrate the potential of Bitcoin and blockchain technology in establishing a borderless financial system beyond Earth.

It is reported that the physical Bitcoin weighs 43 grams and contains 1 BTC (valued at approximately $45,000 as of January 8, 2024), which will be carried by the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Vulcan rocket and integrated into the commercial lunar lander Peregrine-1. The tentative arrival date on the Moon is February 23, 2024.
