According to ChainCatcher news, in an interview with Caixin, Livio Weng, Chief Operating Officer of HashKey Group, revealed that while 13 Bitcoin spot ETFs are awaiting approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), about ten fund companies are preparing to launch virtual asset spot ETFs in Hong Kong, with seven or eight of them already in the actual advancement stage.

Prior to this, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority issued a circular in December 2023, stating that they are ready to accept applications for the recognition of virtual asset spot ETFs. This means that Hong Kong is becoming the first market in the Asia-Pacific region to allow the listing of virtual asset spot ETFs.
