ChainCatcher news, according to local media reports, multiple institutions have stated that Hong Kong is expected to launch its first Bitcoin spot ETF before the middle of 2024.

Zhu Chengyu, chairman of VSFG, revealed that they have reached a cooperation intention with a local fund company and are preparing to submit an application, expecting to officially file before the Lunar New Year and launch in the first quarter. OSL's executive director and head of regulatory affairs, Diao Jiajun, also mentioned that they are in close communication with many fund companies, with 5 to 10 fund companies conducting research work, and the first spot ETF is expected to be launched before the middle of the year.

Previously, another licensed virtual asset exchange, HashKey Group's COO, Weng Xiaoqi, stated that currently more than ten fund companies are actively preparing to launch spot ETFs in Hong Kong, with 7 to 8 of them having entered the actual advancement stage, striving to push for the implementation of the Hong Kong Bitcoin spot ETF in the coming months.
