ChainCatcher news, since the approval of the spot Bitcoin ETF in the United States, interest in Bitcoin among Australian retail investors has increased. A survey conducted by the fifth annual independent reserve cryptocurrency index of 2,100 adults shows that Bitcoin sentiment in Australia has risen by 25% after the approval. Although uncertain economic conditions have hindered further adoption of Bitcoin, the adoption rate for Bitcoin in 2024 has also seen a slight increase. Among those aged 55 and above, the favorability towards Bitcoin has increased significantly by 100%.

Additionally, the survey found that if a spot Bitcoin ETF listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) were available, 19% of respondents would be willing to invest, with the most enthusiasm coming from respondents aged 25 to 34 and 35 to 44, where 29% and 30% of respondents in those age groups, respectively, expressed willingness to invest.

About one-third of respondents indicated that they might invest in Bitcoin long-term through self-managed super funds. However, these respondents showed a divide on whether they would prefer to access Bitcoin through cryptocurrency exchanges or ETFs.
