National People's Congress representative Jiang Fan suggested: The disposal system for virtual currencies involved in cases urgently needs improvement
ChainCatcher News, National People's Congress representative Jiang Fan suggested in an interview with the Legal Daily reporter to amend relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China to further improve the disposal system for virtual currencies involved in cases. Jiang Fan stated that, since activities related to virtual currencies are classified as illegal financial activities, there are currently no specific normative documents for the disposal of virtual currencies involved in cases in our country. The subjects, methods, and processes for disposing of virtual currencies involved in cases have not been clearly defined. In this regard, Jiang Fan suggested amending Article 144 of the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China to read: The People's Procuratorate and public security organs may, according to the needs of criminal investigation, query and freeze the property of criminal suspects, including deposits, remittances, bonds, stocks, fund shares, virtual currencies, etc., in accordance with regulations. Relevant units and individuals shall cooperate.
