Former Polygon DeFi head Jack Melnick joins Berachain as the same position
ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, former Polygon Labs DeFi head Jack Melnick has joined the Layer 1 blockchain developer Berachain as the same DeFi director position. Melnick officially started at Berachain this Monday, having served as the DeFi head at Polygon Labs for 17 months.
As the DeFi head of Polygon, Melnick was involved in the development of Polygon's DeFi, infrastructure, and products related to zkEVM, Polygon CDK, PoS, and more.
According to the Web3 asset data platform RootData, in April this year, Berachain completed a $100 million Series B funding round led by Brevan Howard Digital and Framework Ventures, with participation from several institutions including Polychain Capital, Hack VC, and Samsung Next. The Berachain ecosystem involves three main tokens, allowing users to stake assets and provide liquidity for DeFi protocols, earn governance tokens BGT by completing specific tasks, and exchange BGT for the USD-pegged stablecoin HONEY, while using BERA tokens to pay transaction fees.
