On May 24, the on-chain voting for the Arbitrum community's "200 million ARB Game Catalyst Plan" proposal will officially begin. This proposal aims to provide a three-year incentive plan totaling 200 million ARB for Arbitrum's ecological games, powering the Arbitrum gaming ecosystem through studios and games in the Web3 industry. The voting will end on June 7, and based on the results of the snapshot vote conducted in March, this on-chain vote is expected to pass smoothly unless there are any unforeseen circumstances.
The L3 gaming chain XAI ecosystem, which is directly supported and assisted in development by the Arbitrum team, will undoubtedly be the biggest beneficiary. What high-quality games and projects have been attracted to the XAI ecosystem? This article will review six blockchain games within the XAI ecosystem.
Crypto Unicorns
A pet collection and simulation game developed by Laguna Games. In March 2022, Crypto Unicorns raised 26 million dollars through a token sale, led by metaverse company TCG and venture capital fund Backed VC, with participation from BITKRAFT Ventures, Delphi Digital, Infinity Venture Crypto, Polygon Studios, CoinFund, BreederDAO, Emfarsis, and ACME Capital.
The gameplay of Crypto Unicorns includes farm management, dueling, racing, and team RPG battles, with each game mechanism having unicorns that are more suitable based on their respective abilities. In terms of farm management, land NFTs are the foundation for all activities. Players can use land to increase productivity and craft materials to upgrade buildings. In this way, players can customize their farms and showcase them to the world by combining individual lands into communities, making this design suitable for highly social gameplay.
Crypto Unicorns was initially built on the Polygon blockchain network and announced its migration to XAI earlier this year. The game is currently paused and is expected to restart by the end of June. During the migration, Crypto Unicorns converted its token RBW to $CU at a seamless exchange ratio of 10 to 1. As of May 24, the price of CU tokens is approximately 0.37, with a weekly increase of about 36%.
Tarochi Game
The first full-chain RPG game launched on XAI, developed by Paima Studios. The studio's Paima is a Web3 engine optimized for games, gamification, and autonomous worlds, allowing Web3 applications to be built in days and enabling on-chain games to be developed using web2 technologies.
Tarochi features a retro pixel art style, set in an immersive, autonomous decentralized world. In terms of gameplay, Tarochi has some similarities to Pokemon, where players embark on an adventure to complete quests, explore, battle, and capture monsters.
The core of the Tarochi universe is its dynamic monster ecosystem, with each monster residing in the game's wilderness, available for players to battle or capture. These monsters are categorized into different rarity levels, including unlimited supply common and uncommon, daily limited supply rare, epic, legendary, and limited edition released only during specific events.
Before the game's launch in February this year, its NFT Genesis Trainer series sold out in 31 hours. On the first day of release, over 7,000 unique players interacted with Tarochi, generating over 300,000 transactions.
Valeria Games
Valeria Games plans to launch two game products, including the real-time strategy game Valeria: Land Before the War, which is suitable for Android and iOS platforms and is currently in the alpha stage. The game offers various gameplay options, where players will summon, train, evolve, and battle with Valerians while advancing the storyline, and can also participate in player-versus-player battles, quests, dungeons, survival modes, and tournaments. The physical card game Valeria: Phygital Card Game is a tabletop card game that combines the tangible appeal of physical cards with digital NFTs. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that each card has a QR code, and players will receive a digital version of the card NFT upon scanning, merging real life and online gaming.
Additionally, Valeria Games is developing a third work that brings the Valeria universe into the digital comic realm. This official webcomic will explore the world of Valeria, filled with magical creatures, resource-rich lands, and ongoing battles. The comic follows the journey of the male protagonist Favian, witnessing his growth from a nature enthusiast to a warrior fighting against conquerors.
Final Form
A digital card-based Rogue-Lite combat game developed by Ex Populus. Players will use free limited edition cards, summon companions, mutants, and relics to build increasingly powerful combat decks. Winning a battle will earn players Chromos, which serve as the fuel for evolution in the game. The higher the rarity of the cards, the more Chromos rewards players will receive in battles. By using Chromos, players can evolve cards to legendary rarity, a process that requires players to sacrifice cards and burn them, creating scarcity. Inspired by Rogue-Lite and Souls-Like games, losses in Final Form are severe, with players losing almost everything, retaining only limited edition cards, and then starting completely over.
Final Form's collectible card system includes a standard set of rules to determine card rarity, health points, attack power, abilities, etc. Each set of limited edition cards is created in collaboration with renowned artists, celebrities, and athletes, including former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, among others. Inspired by traditional cards, this meticulously designed system maximizes versatility to meet the needs of various potential collectible card games. The game was initially developed on Solana and announced its migration to XAI last June, with a planned launch by the end of the year. However, this fully on-chain game, which has been in development for over two years, has yet to be released, with the official release date pending.
Ex Populus is led by a senior team from companies such as Pixar, Ubisoft, Activision, Blizzard, and Wargaming, and its other action/shooter game LamoVerse will also launch on XAI. Information about LamoVerse is limited, and its rescue experience version was originally scheduled for release earlier this year.
Chains Of The Eternals
An open-world MMORPG-type full-chain game that supports up to 10 players in a single game session. The game is inspired by Dofus and World of Warcraft. The core gameplay will be based on PvE combat, where players will earn rewards such as $KASH, loot, and resources by battling primitive monsters of varying levels and privileges. Each battle will also grant players experience (XP) to level up their characters, unlocking new spells and abilities. As an MMORPG, Chains Of The Eternals allows players to team up with friends to fight multiple monsters in real-time, explore mysterious dungeons, and earn unique rewards. Additionally, players will be able to engage in faction-based conflicts, choosing to join either the defenders or the rebels, battling other players to earn points for their faction.
In the latest development report released by the project team, developers revealed that they have created a stable version called V1 Alpha. This version reportedly includes PvE combat and fully integrated multiplayer gameplay. PvE combat has been fully integrated into smart contracts, synchronizing visuals with the blockchain to ensure a smooth gaming experience.
The Lost Glitches
A collectible card game, Lost Glitches combines the strategic complexity of collectible card games (CCG) with the immersive storytelling and character development of role-playing games (RPG). In the world of Lost Glitches, "Deep Space," players ally with a faction in the game, creating personalized decks to engage in tactical battles, with its card battle mechanics similar to other blockchain-based card fighting games like Parallel and Gods Unchained. In April this year, the XAI Foundation announced a partnership with game publisher Mimunga and developer Honig Studios to bring The Lost Glitches to the XAI blockchain. The XAI Foundation also invested an undisclosed amount of funding into the project. The official claim is that the game will be exclusive to XAI; however, currently, players can only download it through the Epic Games Store.
