Vitalik: Very dissatisfied with the celebrity meme coin experiment

2024-06-05 18:05:56
Collection

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik responded to discussions about "celebrities issuing MEME coins" by stating: "So far, I am very dissatisfied with 'this round of celebrity experiments.'

'Financialization is a means to an end,' and if the end is worthy (healthcare, open-source software, art, etc.), I can respect that. But financialization as the final product (vomit emoji).

Ashton and Mila's 'Stoner Cats' is far more honorable than anything we see in the celebrity MEME era of 2024—at least one real show got funded. How do we push things in a better direction?"
