ChainCatcher news, Taiko announced on platform X that it will upgrade the Taiko BCR mainnet protocol to version 1.7.0 on July 1. This version is compatible with the current Taiko-geth and client version ABI, but includes underlying protocol changes that affect block proposers and provers. The main updates include:

  1. The designated prover of the block must also be the proposer;

  2. Block provers need to verify whether the existing converted stateRoot is zero. If it is, the protocol will only compare blockHash to determine if another conversion is in dispute;

  3. The validity and dispute guarantees of active guarantees and SGX proofs are reduced by 50%;

  4. Gas optimization;

  5. The Hekla testnet protocol has been upgraded, which may cause some block proposal and proof transactions to fail. It is recommended that all Hekla block proposers and provers update their transaction parameters as soon as possible.
