Trump has been officially nominated as the Republican presidential candidate
ChainCatcher news, according to Xinhua News Agency, former U.S. President Donald Trump received enough delegate votes at the Republican National Convention on the 15th to be officially nominated as the Republican presidential candidate for the 2024 U.S. presidential election. On the same day, Trump also announced that he has chosen Ohio Senator James David Vance as his running mate.
The Republican Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, formally announced at the convention the nomination of Trump and Vance as the Republican presidential and vice-presidential candidates. Trump is expected to officially accept the nomination on the 18th.
James David Vance was born in 1984, elected as a U.S. Senator from Ohio in 2022, and sworn in in January 2023. He was once a fierce critic of Trump but later became an ally of the former president.
