Google acquires Character.AI for over $2.5 billion and incorporates the team

ChainCatcher news, according to Jinshi reports, the AI digital human unicorn company Character.AI announced that Google (GOOG.O) has paid a licensing fee for the model to Character.AI and will allow Character.AI co-founder and CEO Noam Shazeer and President Daniel DeFreitas, as well as about 30 employees from Character engaged in model training and voice AI work (out of approximately 130 employees), to join Google to participate in the Gemini AI project. Reports indicate that Character.AI's management informed employees that the investors' shares will be acquired at an estimated valuation of about $88 per share. The overall acquisition value of Character.AI by Google will exceed $2.5 billion.
