CESS Incentive Testnet v0.7.6 Launched
CESS (Cumulus Encrypted Storage System) officially announced at the end of December 2023 that Series A financing has been successfully completed, with a total amount of up to 8 million USD. With recognition from the market, investors, and community users, CESS has never stopped innovating and developing. At the beginning of 2024, CESS will officially launch the incentive testnet v0.7.6 on January 31 at 8:00 (UTC 0), bringing a series of upgrades and updates.
So far, CESS and community miners have completed 12 rounds of testnet upgrades and iterations, with one testnet version attracting over 6,300 nodes for collaborative construction. Currently, more than 40,000 nodes have participated in the testing. In the continuously optimized testnet, CESS, as a blockchain-based decentralized cloud storage network and CDN, has achieved online data storage and real-time sharing, providing the best solution for high-frequency dynamic data storage and data retrieval distribution in Web3, offering large-scale commercial storage for enterprises, organizations, and mainstream adoption in the Web3 industry.
The iterations and updates of the testnet are proof of milestones being achieved, while also demonstrating that CESS is committed to building an open, transparent, co-constructed, shared, and mutually beneficial data value network centered around data security storage, circulation, and transactions. The CESS data value network is built on the DePIN concept as a Layer 1 infrastructure, supporting large-scale commercial storage while protecting user privacy and data sovereignty, and enabling data monetization and free circulation/sharing of data value. CESS has promoted the mining and circulation of data value, contributing the power of decentralized physical infrastructure to the Web3 value internet, thus gaining support from numerous developers, partners, Web3 builders, and a wide range of followers.
We would like to extend our special thanks to the miners who actively participated in the testing and accompanied CESS in its continuous growth. With the mainnet launch approaching, let us join hands to continue welcoming the upcoming incentive testnet v0.7.6! Below is a detailed introduction to the new features and updates of CESS-v0.7.6:
Storage Nodes
Optimized the economic model of storage nodes, mainly including adjustments to the storage node reward release mechanism, penalty mechanism, and node exit mechanism. The penalty for nodes that fail to complete random challenges (not providing service file storage proof) has been reduced from 10% to 5%. Nodes that fail random challenges three times in a row will be forcibly exited from the network.
Optimized the staking plan for storage nodes, supporting the same account for staking, earnings, and signing accounts, as well as different accounts for each, allowing node operators to define the number of accounts. This ensures the security of large staking accounts while maintaining flexibility.
Improved the implementation details of the multi-backup recoverable storage proof mechanism, further enhancing the security of the network.
Optimized the processes for idle space certification, random challenges, and file recovery for storage nodes, fixing several issues found in the testnet CESS-v0.7.5.
Added a storage node operation status monitoring module, enhancing the network's ability to recognize the status of storage nodes.
Improved the user operation manuals for storage nodes and consensus nodes, adding operation manuals for multi-container running storage nodes and blockchain RPC node deployment.
Consensus Nodes
Optimized the TEE Worker registration model, allowing TEE Workers to register independently and for multiple nodes, supporting various types of TEE Workers, greatly improving the network's efficiency in processing transactions.
Optimized the idle space proof algorithm library, reducing the amount of data required for proof and alleviating network transmission pressure.
Optimized the CESS nodeadm script management program, allowing consensus node users to configure domain names with one click.
Implemented online upgrade testing and data migration testing for consensus nodes, successfully achieving seamless upgrades of the blockchain network.
CESS-DeOSS (Decentralized Object Storage Service)
Optimized the file upload process, decoupling data access business from reliability assurance mechanisms, enhancing the data throughput capacity and stability of the storage network.
Improved the go-sdk, js-sdk, and related user manuals, fixing several known issues and enhancing the developer experience.
The reward rules for v0.7.6 are as follows:
Storage Nodes
The total reward points for all storage nodes in CESS-v0.7.6 is 20,000, corresponding to 2 million CESS tokens on the mainnet. The final points for each node are calculated based on the percentage of the total storage power (Storage Power) that the node occupies. For example, if the total storage power of the CESS network at the end is 10,000 G, and node A's power at the end is 100 G, then node A can earn 200 points in this round. The test currency TCESS required for staking can be obtained from the CESS official website.

(Note: A power greater than 1G at the end of this round of testing is required to be considered a valid node.)

Consensus Nodes
Consensus nodes that run successfully and complete the entire testing cycle will each receive 50 points. The required TCESS for staking can be requested from the CESS official Telegram by contacting the administrators.

The final points rewards for storage nodes and consensus nodes will be announced on CESS's official Twitter, with the storage miner's power values rounded to the nearest digit after the decimal point. Points will be distributed at a ratio of 1:100 (i.e., 1 point is exchanged for 100 CESS tokens).
