A Binance executive detained in Nigeria pleads with the judge to allow him to undergo back surgery

2024-09-03 08:04:20

ChainCatcher news, according to DL News, Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, who is in poor health, pleaded with a Nigerian judge on Monday to allow him to undergo back surgery due to a herniated disc.

"I have been complaining about this issue, but it has not been resolved," said the 40-year-old Gambaryan as the money laundering trial continued in Nigeria's capital, Abuja.

"Due to the lack of proper treatment, my nerves have suffered permanent damage, which is why I am in this condition now, and I can no longer walk," Gambaryan added, limping into the courtroom after being denied the use of a wheelchair.

Since being imprisoned in a jail near Abuja in April, Gambaryan has denied the prosecution's charges, but he has been suffering from pneumonia and malaria.
