EU regulators: Stablecoin standards are likely to be released by the end of the year
ChainCatcher news, according to CoinDesk, a spokesperson for the European Banking Authority stated that the regulations governing how stablecoin issuers like Tether and Circle operate in the European Union (EU) are likely to be formally introduced by the end of the year. They are included in the 15 technical standards submitted by the EBA to the EU's executive body, the European Commission, which were developed jointly by the EBA and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
The committee is currently reviewing these standards and will decide whether to adopt the text as is or request modifications. These standards cover issues such as authorization, stress testing, and methods for estimating transaction volumes and values.
