Five Polymarket accounts have collectively wagered $35 million on Trump's victory since the beginning of this month
ChainCatcher news, according to Fortune, predicts that several mysterious accounts on the prediction market Polymarket have made large bets, causing Donald Trump to have a significant lead in his winning probability on the platform. Since the beginning of this month, four Polymarket accounts (Fredi9999, Theo4, PrincessCaro, and Michie) have collectively wagered $30 million on Trump's victory. Another user, zxgngl, recently also invested over $5 million in support of Trump. These large bets have quickly changed market expectations.
Polymarket seed round investor Alex Marinier stated that it could be "a big player’s bet that influenced the market." He believes these investors either firmly believe Trump will win or are trying to increase their candidate's chances by influencing market expectations. However, since Polymarket is a cryptocurrency-based prediction market and prohibits U.S. users from participating, its accuracy is questioned. According to Bloomberg, Polymarket is verifying whether its main users are from outside the United States.
