Walrus is an airdrop project officially confirmed by Sui Network, currently in the testnet phase, with no interaction costs required. The project has significant potential, with estimated returns of 2600U per account, and it is recommended to use multiple accounts.

1. Project Introduction

According to the official statement: @WalrusProtocol is a decentralized storage network that can store and transmit raw data and media files (such as videos, images, and PDFs) without affecting performance or accessibility. With Walrus, users' data is always secure and available.

2. Current Stage

According to the introduction from Sui Network's official Twitter, the Walrus testnet is now live, and it has been confirmed that there will be an airdrop of Walrus tokens ($WAL).

Walrus's official Twitter currently has only 8000 followers, making it an absolute early project.

(1) Method 1: Use blockbolt to claim SUI test tokens

  • Faucet link: faucet.blockbolt.io
  • Enter your address,
  • Click Give me sui to claim testnet tokens (it's best to use multiple addresses to claim SUI tokens, as you will need to stake 1 WAL later)

(2) Method 2: Claim SUI test tokens in the SUI Discord

Step 3: Exchange SUI for WAL Tokens

  • Related link: https://stake.walrus.site/
  • Connect SUI wallet
  • Click "Get WAL"
  • Exchange SUI for WAL (it is recommended to leave some SUI for transaction fees)

Step 4: Staking

  • Scroll down the page to find Current Committee
  • Choose any node (Validator)
  • Minimum stake of 1 WAL token

Step 5: Mint NFT on Flatland

  • Click Mint a new Flatlander

  • After wallet confirmation, if this page appears, it is successful

Step 6: Upload Blob to Walrus

This step often reports errors, possibly due to system instability, so try a few more times.
That concludes today's airdrop content. Although there isn't much information out yet about Walrus, we should note that Sui Network rarely promotes a project on their official Twitter. This time, Sui Network is promoting Walrus, and I believe there will be significant potential in the future, as they did the same in 2022.
