ChainCatcher news, according to The Block, Muneeb Ali, the founder of the Bitcoin Layer2 network Stacks, stated on social platform X that the highly anticipated Stacks upgrade could be launched as early as next month. Ali said, "Early December is the target date, and sBTC v1 seems to be progressing as planned, with subsequent upgrades rolling out in January and beyond."

Stacks describes sBTC as the first trustless two-way Bitcoin anchoring system, which has the potential to expand decentralized finance (DeFi) applications on the Bitcoin base layer. The system aims to address Bitcoin's "write problem," which is the challenge of writing data directly to the Bitcoin main chain, a critical issue for DeFi applications.
