Of course, this is just my wild guess. Whether things will develop this way, let's return to reality and wait.

The entire weekend, I was searching online for information about AI agents and came across a very valuable article and an interesting case.

Before sharing this article and case, let me introduce two phenomena of the Virtuals platform.

In previous articles, I have mentioned the Virtuals AI agent platform multiple times.

This platform has a strong empowering action regarding tokens in finance—requiring that all AI agent tokens issued on the platform must be purchased using the platform token (VIRTUAL). Thus, the platform token becomes the entry point for these AI agent tokens.

In addition, several projects on the Virtuals platform have also mimicked the gameplay of Bitcoin's ecological rune tokens: airdropping to veteran players—those holding VIRTUAL tokens receive airdrops, while those holding LUNA tokens receive double airdrops…

As far as I know, three projects (MUSIC, PH, AIYP) have already done this, and I believe the number of imitators will only increase in the future.

Now, let me share the article mentioned above (link attached at the end).

After reading this article, I regretted not discovering it earlier; otherwise, my understanding of AI agents would be deeper and more refined today.

The article has many brilliant points, one of which can enrich our imagination about the potential application scenarios for AI agents in the future. The original words from the article (and the translation) are as follows:

"

This model is very suitable for NFT brands that already have communities. Coinbase's @yugacohler provided his suggestions:

NFT brands should launch their own AI agents on @virtuals_io to interact with their communities and distribute their tokens.

There should be a CryptoPunk agent.

There should be a Pudgy Penguins agent.

And

There should be a Remilio Milady agent.

"

Setting aside the speaker's intention to promote the platform, just looking at this idea, the future use cases for AI agents will be extremely broad, and it is entirely possible that they will become a necessity for the operation of every project.

Upon reading this, I recalled a viewpoint I shared in an article when Ethereum's Layer 2 scaling began to gain popularity:

I believe that more and more projects (especially those zombie projects) will leverage the release of their own Layer 2 solutions to boost popularity and extend their lifespan. Later, Magic started releasing its own Layer 2, Bored Apes began releasing their own Layer 2, and even Uniswap released its own Unichain.

Now, with AI agents gaining popularity again, is it possible that these zombie projects will ride the wave of AI agents to issue their own AI agent tokens and regain some popularity and funding?

I believe this is very likely. Moreover, something currently happening reinforces my belief, which is related to the NFT ecosystem.

When it comes to the NFT ecosystem, aside from CryptoPunks, the first brand that most of us think of is Bored Apes. However, this position has now been surpassed by Pudgy Penguins. As of the time of writing, Pudgy Penguins' floor price has exceeded 34 ETH, while Bored Apes is just under 20 ETH.

This surpassing has occurred recently, and I believe a direct factor triggering this change is the issuance of tokens.

Faced with such momentum from competitors, if Bored Apes wants to reclaim its former position, aside from better long-term planning, I see no good short-term solutions.

If I had to suggest one, it would be: issue tokens.

But the problem is, Bored Apes already issued Ape tokens in the last round; how can they issue again now?

Not only have they issued tokens, but they have also created the Layer 2 solution ApeChain; it seems all available means have been exhausted.

Of course, there have been rumors recently that Bored Apes is seeking to raise $5 billion from A16Z. However, such positive news is only beneficial in the long term, and its stimulating and boosting effect on the project in the short term is very limited.

But if we think about the currently thriving AI agents, the idea becomes clear.

If Bored Apes were to issue a wave of AI agent tokens, allocating a portion for airdrops to NFT and Ape token holders, and another portion for public fundraising, its momentum and token price could very likely rise sharply in the short term.

Moreover, issuing AI agents is not solely for token issuance; it is also a necessity for project operations.

Furthermore, AI agents are also a key focus and favored track of their old employer, A16Z.

This kind of situation, which satisfies both investor preferences and community preferences, is simply perfect.

Of course, this is purely my wild guess; whether things will develop this way remains to be seen in reality.
