Bank of Communications Hong Kong Branch issues 300 million USD digital bonds through HSBC Orion digital asset platform
ChainCatcher news, Bank of Communications Hong Kong Branch recently issued an unsecured floating-rate digital bond worth 300 million USD, with a maturity of three years. This is the first digital native bond from a Chinese bank, issued using HSBC's Orion digital asset platform and cleared through the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) in Hong Kong.
Moody's has assigned a preliminary A2 rating to the bond, believing that the risks associated with blockchain have been effectively mitigated, as the Orion platform uses a private permissioned blockchain and cash transactions are settled off-chain, avoiding the impact of platform failures on payments.
