The number of cryptocurrency enforcement cases handled by the SEC in 2024 decreased by 30% compared to 2023

ChainCatcher news, a study by Cornerstone Research found that under Gary Gensler's leadership, the SEC handled 30% fewer cryptocurrency enforcement cases in 2024 compared to 2023.

However, under Gensler's anti-fraud policies, both the number of cases and the amount of fines far exceeded the levels during Jay Clayton's tenure from 2017 to 2020.
