Bitwise collaborates with Maple Finance to make its first foray into the DeFi space
ChainCatcher news, according to CoinDesk, cryptocurrency asset management firm and ETF provider Bitwise has made its first foray into decentralized finance (DeFi) through a partnership with on-chain credit expert Maple Finance.
Bitwise's investment (amount undisclosed) utilizes Maple's Bitcoin collateralized loan product. Maple Finance CEO Sid Powell stated that this move marks an important milestone for institutional allocators adopting on-chain credit. Maple's Bitcoin collateralized loan product is currently open to U.S. accredited investors.
As digital versions of RWA assets become a regular component of traditional finance, companies are seeking opportunities beyond tokenized government bonds, especially in the context of declining interest rates and rising DeFi yields.
Powell stated in an interview, "In this scenario, the yield from Bitcoin collateralized loans is a product that does not yet exist in traditional finance. Maple packages this product in a way that is acceptable to institutional asset managers."
